“Class of 1998 HERE I COME!”

Do you remember the Enterprise commercial circa 2006?  With the guy “Moose”  who is told he is “looking good” by a couple of two-bit skanks?  Well that was nothing like my high school reunion.  Yes, I did rent an Enterprise Car at a family discount since I made up that I am someone’s family member, but sadly I didn’t bring the Sentra to pick up ladies.  The Man of Cheese (TMOC) had his mom drop us off and pick us up, well because that’s how we roll.  I can’t find the damn commercial I am referring to, but here is one from a similar time frame.

College Football: Week 7

October 9, 2008

The road to the BCS Championship goes through the Big 12?

Chiggity Chase Daniel and Sultry Sam Bradford are lighting up scoreboard from Norman to Columbia to Lincoln to Seattle, both teams have led the conference on a roll that is unprecedented in my recent memory.  I have touched on this before briefly but, can any conference boast the talent that the Big XII has in the QB position?  Hands down SEC folks, the power has shifted to the Midwest.

The offensive rankings are simply too powerful to ignore.

BCS National Championship Wrap-up

January 8, 2008

“The BCS Wrap-up Brought to you by the almost deceased 1996 Subaru Impreza”

In an odd twist of fate, the college football season ended on the same day that my 1996 Subaru died.  Yes, the one that sponsors the picks for you.  Perhaps it was just to much for the car to see its 12th football season come to a close.  Perhaps the 2007 itself was too much for the car.  In any event, let’s focus on the good times with the 1996 Subaru, instead of yesterday’s grim estimate  (when you have a car worth about $1500, its hard to justify spending $1200 on it to fix it).

LWN And TMOC Go Head To Head

December 21, 2007

Bowl Pick em

LWN and The Man of Cheese got together at the LWN staff offices to go Head to Head for a battle of college bowl supremacy.  Each remaining bowl game was chosen by the two, and a coin flip determined first choice in team picking.  We went through the games chronologically and chose using spreads available on 12/21.  The team not chosen by the writer was given to the other writer.  For example, if LWN chose Memphis +3.5, TMOC got FAU -3.5 and so on.

LWN’s Administrative Assistant Picks The Bowls

December 21, 2007

My master plan was to have the esteemed writers of LWN’s Sports Blog go head to head with the Admin Assistant picking bowl games.  So far Admin Assistant is the only one to give me the picks.  I guess when you don’t pay your writers they get to you whence they can.

Without further ado, these are the picks of someone who knows nothing about football except the following three things.

  1. Indianapolis has a football team
  2. That team’s nickname is the Colts
  3. The Colts Quarterback is Peyton Manning

Here are her picks in choronological order.  No spreads were used, the games were chosen straight up.

College Football Bowl Preview – Edition 1

“College Coaches Are No Different Than South American Freedom Fighters.”

An open letter to college coaches-

Dear Money Grubbing Ego-maniacal Scumbags:

I understand that coaching can be a brutal profession, but as Gregg Easterbrook pointed out, it can also be done by volunteers (unlike surgeons).  The only reason that your families collapse, your health fades and you sleep in your offices is because each of you are trying to keep up with the Joneses.

College Football Week Non-existent/ Heisman Hype

December 5, 2007

Football

We have entered the doldrums of the 2007 college football season. While this is sad, we can reflect on the season. We can also discuss the Heisman Trophy which will be handed out on Saturday.

The season began with a bang, and ended with a thud for some teams. Let’s look at some of the madness that occurred.

Coaches Have Lost Their Voting Minds!

December 4, 2007

The Man of Cheese gives us a look at the seedy underbelly of coaches polls and their effect on the season as well as why you should not play a tough out of conference schedule.

So I took a look at the way the coaches voted in the final USA Today Coaches Poll. If you don’t know, this poll is a major factor in the BCS rankings. A few things that jump out at me from looking at this… Read the rest of this entry »

It’s Monday and I AM Angry Part IV

December 3, 2007

Troy Aikman Sucks

Fox’s Troy Aikman and Joe Buck need to stop announcing Giants games or my beautiful television might not survive. Their unprofessional rhetoric is getting old, damn quick. I have never seen a broadcast team go out of their way to talk so poorly about a player who has never been convicted of a crime.

If this seems like something I wrote before, that’s because I did.

“The Ire Of The Tiger….(s) Fans”

If Mizzou fans are not upset today, then they will be after reading this. If I were a Mizzou fan, I would be upset. Sure that win against Kansas was dare I say the biggest win in the history of the program? There has not been so much excitement in Columbia since Don Faurot introduced the “Split T” formation to the Tigers and collegiate football. Read the rest of this entry »
