NFL Week 11

“Jim Haslett ruined my week”

Jim Haslett and the “St Louis Rams,” it that is actually them this year ruined parlays, teasers, if bets, and pretty much destroyed my weekend.  If these guys are football players, then I am a doctor.

Who are these scoundrels acting like a group of men who play football?  I’m not sure but you should be able to cover 9 against Favre and his idiotic throws.

Last week we went 3-1 losing only the “Rams” game.  Let’s just get into this.

Picks:  40 across:

Denver +7 @ Atlanta:

I’m fairly certain Denver can put up the points to hang with Atlanta, but defense is a question mark.  I like the Broncos as an underdog against a rookie QB.

Denver 31- Atlanta 28

Oakland +10.5 @ Miaimi:

Coworker says that Miami is a disciplined team that won’t turn the ball over and will make enough plays to win.  Of course he is a total Dolphins homer and season ticket holder, but it IS Oakland right.

Oakland 10- Miami 24

Baltimore +7 @ NYG:

This is probably the match up of the day, sorry Rams and 49ers fans.  Both defenses are stifling and lead the league in the stats, “Defenses which put the most players out for the season.”  On the offensive side of the ball, the Ravens all of the sudden have a running game, and can complete 5-7 passes a game, while the Giants continue to rely on their battering ram, Brandon Jacobs for support.  A close game will be had unless Flacco self-destructs.

Ravens 20- Giants 24

Houston +8.5 @ Indianapolis:

The Colts are getting that swagger back regardless of injuries.  Will Sage Rosenfels once again heroically lose the game for the Texans?

Texans 10- Colts 34

Bears +3.5 @ Green Bay

Throw out the records when these two get together.  Kyle Orton, Rex Grossman, Steve Walsh?  Does it actually matter for the Bears?  Their defense after an off week at Detroit looked great against Tennessee.  Bears win, bears win.

Bears 17 – Green Bay 10

Philadelphia -9 @ Cincinnatti:

Something tells me that the Eagles will not fall victim to the sneaky cats like the Jaguars did.  I like the Eagles to win behind a monster day from Westbrook.

Eagles 35- Bengals 21

New Orleans -6 @ Kansas City

It’s time for the return of the vaunted New Orleans Saints offense.  Everyone gets healthy against the Cheifs and their wacky “go for two offense” led by Tyler Thigpen.  Look, I am cool with the call but why run a fake zone read, then roll, which brings the safety, then pause, then pause, then pause, then double clutch, then throw.  A fade route would have been ample KC.

New Orleans 31 – KC 16

Detroit +14.5 @ Carolina:

14.5 is too much to pass up.  In real football terms that’s two touchdowns and extra points and a field goal.  I want to join Culpepper’s army!  Plus I have never seen a game played so poorly where a team (Carolina) covered a 10 point spread against an opponent.

Detroit 20 – Carolina 28

Minnesota @ Tampa Bay -4:

It’s impossible to go with Gus Frerotte here right.

Tampa Bay 20 – Vikings 10

St. Louis @ San Francisco -7:

In the battle of who could care less, St. Louis wins hands down.  Mike Singletary throws out players, pulls down his pants, and gives the ball to a former quarterback from the full back position when the game is on the line then blames it on his assistant coach………who was formerly with the St. Louis Rams.  It all works out see.

Teams that lose on Monday night bounce back.  It’s a fact.

St. Louis Negative 5 – SanFrancisco 24

Arizona @ Seattle + 3

Seattle is terrible and getting points at home.  How can I go against them when they are playing Arizona who must still be a bad team, right?

Cardinals  28-  Seatlle 14

Tennessee -3 @ Jacksonville

I’m taking the Jaguars because I feel like Garard is going to create big plays today and expect Jacksonville to shut down the run like Chicago did last weekend.  Look for a heavy dose of the Jags running game too.

Tennessee 14- Jax 17

San Diego +5.5 @ Pittsburgh

This one is going to be too close for comfort.  I am taking the Chargers because the Steelers have looked out of sorts recently.  The 5.5 points also have helped me make this decision.

San Diego 20- Pittsburgh 21

Dallas -2 @ Washington

Banking a bit too much on the return of one Anthony Romo, aren’t we Vegas?  Well I don’t like the skins either without Clinton Portis.  Jason Campbell seems like a guy who gets tons of praise without actually doing anything……. a la Tony Romo.

Dallas 24 Washington 17

Check back for Monday night football on Monday.

Results:

Last week:  3-1

Overall:  14-10

W/L imaginary $:  80
